All aluminum LED heat sinks are produced by high-pressure die-casting or low-pressure die-casting, and can be produced by gravity casting even if the volume is not too large. The heat sink used with the LED is designed to absorb and dissipate excess heat, keeping it away from the LED diode and into the heat sink. Then, passive or active air is circulated around the radiator to help cooling. Excessive heat can damage the LED phosphors, resulting in lower light output, color changes, and/or a significant reduction in life expectancy.
